Dinner at L'Espalier is more than just dinner - it's an experience. The service is excellent, the ambiance is very pleasant, and the food is superb. It's on par with a Michelin 2- or 3-star restaurant in France. I've dined at L'Espalier twice in the past 6 months. The first time was on a Monday night, and the second time was on a Saturday night. Clearly, on Monday night, they had removed a few of the tables from the dining room, which made the room feel spacious, and gave us plenty of room between tables. On Saturday night, there were a couple of tables for two that I thought were too close together. The service on Monday night, probably because of the fewer tables, was a little sharper. The 7-course tasting menu is amazing flexible -- they allow you to customize the two first courses and the two entree courses, selecting any of the dishes off of the three course menu. Unfortunately, the 7 courses really are too much food. I'll stick with the 3-course menu in the future.
